Baikal

Baikal is located in a huge bowl almost in the center of Asia. It contains 23 thousand cubic meters. km (22% of the world's reserves) of clean, transparent, fresh, low-mineralized, generously enriched with oxygen, water of unique quality.

The lake is the deepest in the world and according to some studies, its age is more than 25 million years. Usually a lake of 10–20 thousand years old is considered old, and Baikal is young, and there are no signs that it is beginning to age and that someday, in the foreseeable future, will disappear from the face of the Earth, as many lakes have disappeared and disappear. On the contrary, recent studies have allowed geophysicists to hypothesize that Baikal is an emerging ocean. This is confirmed by the fact that its shores diverge at a rate of up to 2 cm per year, just as the continents of Africa and South America diverge.

Baikal is a unique phenomenon on our planet. Almost all the main types of freshwater animals in the world are represented in its fauna. Baikal is also unique in its natural features. Here, for example, there are more sunny days per year than in the famous Black Sea resorts. And this is in the center of Siberia, where the average annual temperature is negative (up to -1.4 degrees in Irkutsk), where permafrost occurs and deer live - the inhabitants of the wide arctic tundra expanses!

You cannot tell about Baikal, the photos do not convey all the charm and beauty of this unique creation of nature. This is a must see with your own eyes!
