Pamukkale (Pamukkale – Cotton castle) – one of the most amazing places in Turkey. The mountain slope has acquired its bizarrely unique shape due to 17 thermal (35-40 ° C) carbonic water sources. Lime deposits have formed dazzling white cascades of terraces of limestone tuff - travertine (Italian - travertino), which forms as a result of precipitation of calcium carbonate. Pamukkale contains calcium bicarbonate, calcium sulfate, magnesium and carbon dioxide. The healing properties of these waters have been known since ancient times.
Pamukkale is famous not only for its mineral springs and snow-white travertines. The most interesting ancient city of Hierapolis (Hierapolis or Hierapolis of Phrygia) is located next to the travertines.
Antique pool or Cleopatra pool. The pool is supplied with water directly from the hot spring underneath, which throws thermal water to the surface. Water temperature 35-36 ° C. The water is practically flowing due to the fact that every second the springs of Pamukkale throw 250-280 liters of water onto the surface. The water in Cleopatra's pool is not just warm and mineral, but also sparkling. Excursion to Pamukkale will allow you to see the site, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1988.
Lake Salda. It is one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Turkey and is of volcanic origin. Its depth is 185 meters, width is 6.8 kilometers. The maximum depth of the reservoir located in a tectonic depression is 196 meters. Thanks to the white sandy beaches and clear water, the lake area became known as the "Turkish Maldives".
